Calvary Christian School opened its doors in August 1978, as a ministry of Calvary Baptist Church. Twenty-five students in grades Kindergarten through 4th. Students from 17 families and 6 churches comprised the school with twenty-three completing the first year.   There were two full time teachers, one half day teacher as well as a part time secretary.  Several talented volunteers assisted in the running of the school office as well.

The first School Board God gave CCS included Mrs. Sharon Beltz, Mrs. Susan Wish, Mr. Ed Gantz, Mr. Paul Green, Mr. John C. Losey, and Pastor Bob Whitney.

Mr. Larry McFadden, the Administrator summed up the first school year this way: “The first year of Calvary Christian School has been a real example of how God can and does bless when His Will and Work are given number one priority.  I can personally say, I can recall no other period in my life during which God’s blessing has been more evidenced than the 78-79 school year of His school here at Calvary.  My heart’s desire is that, “In all things, He might have the preeminence,” in the future growth of CCS.”
