Calvary Chapel: A Spiritual Reset

January 18, 2024
By Pastor Joey Adams

Upon returning from Christmas break, the students of CCS had a special, three-day chapel event that went by the title, “Spiritual Reset Week.” Instead of just having the typical Friday morning chapel, Spiritual Reset Week consisted of a worship chapel on Wednesday and a two-part sermon series on Thursday and Friday.

The aim of this event was simple: to remind the students of the hope they have in Christ. Breaks from school are always a welcomed respite for both students and teachers. And yet, they can also be a source of false hope. Sometimes, we are looking for a break from work or school to more than rejuvenate us—we’re often looking for them to fulfill us. With such heightened expectations, we can come back to “real life” feeling a bit let down by the break we just had.

Spiritual Reset Week was designed to combat this post-break melancholy. As Christians, our hope is not found in breaks from school (or, for that matter, any other earthly thing). Our hope is found in none other than Jesus Christ. Jesus is our hope of eternal life because he is the resurrection (John 1:25). Jesus is our hope because we are crucified with him (Galatians 2:20) and because we are raised from the dead with him (Romans 6:5).

I am confident that the Lord used this week to stir the hearts of our students into greater faith and joy in Christ. To him be the glory forever and ever!

In Christ,
Pastor Joey
