A Letter from Mr. Hyde
Dear Calvary Families,
Yesterday, Ohio's 10th District Court of Appeals issued a ruling upholding a lower court's decision declaring Ohio's EdChoice Scholarship Program unconstitutional. While this will generate concerning headlines, I want to reassure our families that there is no change to the EdChoice Scholarship Program or the scholarships your children currently receive.
This decision was anticipated, particularly given the courts in which the case was filed and their history of rulings. Importantly, the court issued a stay on its decision, meaning the ruling will not take effect while the case continues through the appeals process. Ohio's EdChoice scholarships remain fully operational, and families do not need to take any action. As has been expected for some time, this case is headed to the Ohio Supreme Court, where the ultimate question of the program's constitutionality will be resolved. We expect a favorable ruling once the case gets there but it's of course a matter to pray over.
This case reminds us of the importance of remaining informed and engaged in the civic process. Ohio's upcoming elections include important statewide offices, including two seats on the Ohio Supreme Court and the Attorney General, which have direct connections to the legal process surrounding EdChoice. As Christians, we have an opportunity to be thoughtful and informed citizens, and I encourage every eligible member of our school community to exercise the privilege of voting. For families interested in researching candidates, the Center for Christian Virtue offers helpful voter resources.
We remain grateful for the opportunities EdChoice and other scholarships provide families to pursue the education that aligns with their values and convictions. Our mission remains unchanged, regardless of the legal discussions taking place around us. We will continue to monitor this case closely and communicate any meaningful developments.
Please join me in praying for wisdom for our elected leaders and judges as this case moves forward.
Ryan Hyde
